Jared May at TREK

Jared May discovered a love for math in his teen years. He has worked in accounting for many years, but recently decided to launch his own business, May Bookkeeping Solutions, a virtual bookkeeping business that provides great flexibility for him and his customers.

He started it as a side-business late in 2019, while still working for Northern Woodwork in Thief River Falls. With just a few months of business ownership under his belt, COVID-19 hit. While this was a difficult time for all businesses, Jared stepped up his game by working hard for his clients, helping them to stay on top of their finances and the various COVID relief programs that were rolling out. Today, Northern Woodwork is one of several clients served by May Bookkeeping Solutions.

A book, “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway,” inspired Jared on his TREK. He really didn’t know how many clients he would be able to pick up and assumed that he would have to find clients out of state. The surprise was that there was a real need for his business in the local area. The two lessons that Jared has learned are: (1) the importance of relationships and networking; and (2) the power of social media.
