Planning the Future of Housing for 55+ Residents

A Community-Driven Project Funded by Age-Friendly Minnesota

🔍 What Is This About?

Advance Thief River is taking action to plan for the future needs of residents aged 55 and older. With support from Age-Friendly Minnesota and expert insight from the University of Minnesota Extension, we are launching a community-led initiative to create a Strategic Housing Plan that supports aging in place, diverse housing options, and a strong local economy.

🏠 Why It Matters

Our population is aging—and with that comes an opportunity to ensure that our housing, neighborhoods, and services are ready. This initiative will strengthen our region’s housing continuum, support economic vitality, and help residents remain connected, active, and supported at every stage of life.

This project includes:

• Community Forums (First one: September 2025!)

• Focus Groups and Listening Sessions

• Grassroots Planning Activities

• Research and Data Support from UMN Extension
