Dylan’s Entrepreneurial Journey
Dylan Nelson, the 29-year-old owner of Northern Gun and Pawn, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey that began in middle school while he was working for a local scrap business. Over a span of 12 years, he buckled down and worked hard, hoping to eventually fulfill his dream of owning a business. After years of working there, he felt stagnant and unhappy and realized he was ready for a new challenge.

Promise Act Grants Available
The Northwest Minnesota Foundation will soon be accepting grant applications from small businesses and nonprofits to invest in existing operations or planned growth. Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded.
Rise of the Resilient Training Series
“Rise of the Resilient – Moving Past Fear” is a two-part training series led by Deb McGregor, beginning April 9. This series continues to bring even more learning, connection and growth. Training location is Great North Fitness in Thief River Falls, using elements of the gym to act as metaphors and tools as participants take on fear.
New Childcare Center
Discovery Place is establishing a new childcare facility at Valley Assisted Living in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The expansion will create space for 156 children and varying hours of operation.
