Advance Thief River Receives $30,575 Grant
Advance Thief River is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant of $30,575 by the Minnesota Humanities Center. This funding will support Advance Thief River’s ongoing efforts to foster welcoming communities through its Welcoming Table events.
Funding Awarded to Ten Family Childcare Providers
Advance Thief River announces the award of funding to ten Thief River Falls childcare providers. Awards were presented to Kimmy’s Clubhouse, Edgewood Explorers Childcare, Jacki’s Bright Beginnings Daycare, Laci’s Daycare, Heather’s Helping Hands Childcare, Little Sprouts Childcare, Renee’s Daycare, Cindy Sele’s Child Care, Jennifer Johnson, and Brittany’s Blooming Child Care.
Annual Meeting February 4
The annual meeting for Advance Thief River is being held at 12:00 PM on February 4, 2025 at the American Legion in Thief River Falls. Meeting attendees will hear from Advance Thief River Board President, Tony McLean, Executive Director, Michelle Landsverk, and Associate Director for First Children’s Finance, Jessica Beyer.

Heidi Garry Brings New Life to The Old Creamery
Heidi Garry brought new life to The Old Creamery in Middle River, MN. Built in 1936, the creamery was once a hub for the community, where locals brought their milk and children enjoyed ice cream bars. After sitting idle for nearly 30 years, the building has been transformed by Garry’s vision and determination into a vibrant antique shop, boutique, and community space.
Housing Input Sought
Residents aged 50 and older in Thief River Falls are invited to participate in a series of discussions, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews to share their perspectives on housing needs and preferences. This initiative seeks to address the growing demand for housing that supports the health, longevity, and quality of life for older adults.
