Hustad Wins ATR Photo Contest

Advance Thief River is pleased to announce that Jim Hustad has been chosen by the public as Grand Prize Winner of the 2019 Advance Thief River Photo Contest. The contest opened on July 1 and eligible entries were required to be submitted by July 31.

The Advance Thief River Social Media Taskforce was given the responsibility of selecting winners for each contest category. Taskforce members include Rebekah Larson-Isaak, Kelsey Brateng, Karen Griffin, Mariah Hruby, Josh Watne, Sean Sorteberg, and Michelle Landsverk.

Advance Thief River Photo Contest category winners are:

  • Business and Industry: Britney Schwab
  • City Views: Beth Iliff
  • Family Life: Katie Stavos
  • Nature: Katie Stavos
  • Pets and Animals: Khristina West
  • Prowler Pride: Jim Hustad

The public was asked to vote for their favorite photo from among the category winners, with the photo receiving the most votes to be designated as “Grand Prize Winner.” Public voting was open from August 11 through August 31. Jim Hustad’s “Prowler Pride” photo aptly captures the community spirit and quality of life that the area offers. Hustad was awarded $250 in Chamber Bucks for the photo, as well as an additional $50 for winning in his category.

Winners in the other categories were each awarded $50 in Chamber Bucks. Prizes are courtesy of Sanford Health Thief River Falls.

Speaking on behalf of Advance Thief River and the taskforce, Michelle Landsverk, Advance Thief River Director said, “we were overwhelmed by the number of high-quality submissions that we received and we are so thankful to all who entered the contest.”

Photos that were submitted through the contest will be used to promote the area, supporting the work and objectives of Advance Thief River.
