🔍 What Is This About?
Advance Thief River is taking action to plan for the future needs of residents aged 55 and older. With support from Age-Friendly Minnesota and expert insight from the University of Minnesota Extension, we are launching a community-led initiative to create a Strategic Housing Plan that supports the housing needs of our 55 and older residents and a strong local economy.
🏠 Why It Matters
Our population is aging—and with that shift comes a powerful opportunity to prepare our housing, neighborhoods, and services for the future. This initiative will enhance life cycle housing, boost economic vitality, and ensure that residents can stay connected, engaged, and active in the community.
📣 How We’ll Do It
This project includes:
- Community Forums
Focus Groups and Listening Sessions - Grassroots Planning Activities
- Research and Data Support from UMN Extension
👥 Who Should Be Involved?
We’re inviting everyone with a stake in the future of Thief River Falls:
- Elected Officials & City Staff
- Developers, Builders, & Property Owners
- Residents Aged 55+ and Their Families
- Community & Faith-Based Organizations
- Healthcare Providers
- Business and Economic Leaders
- Anyone invested in a vibrant, age-friendly future
