Sweet Repeats partners, Samantha DeHaan and Paige Buschette, plan to open their new business September 30, 2024.
A New Downtown Business
On September 30, 2024, Thief River Falls will welcome a new business to its downtown—a children’s resale store called Sweet Repeats, thanks to the vision and determination of co-owners Paige Buschette and Samantha DeHaan. The journey to opening day has been filled with twists, turns, and a shared passion for making their dream a reality.
“I’ve always wanted to start a business,” Paige Buschette shared at TREK in Thief River Falls on September 10. “Growing up, I thought it would be in healthcare, because that’s what I’ve always done.” Paige’s path, however, wasn’t as straightforward as she expected. After years of considering various business ideas, she felt like none would work out, and at one point, she gave up entirely, resigned to working for someone else.
Inspiration
But inspiration struck unexpectedly one day while shopping for a dress for her daughter. Paige found herself frustrated with the limited options in town and thought, “I wish there were a Once Upon A Child here with nice, affordable kids’ clothes.” That’s when the idea for Sweet Repeats was born.
With the spark of a new vision, Paige began to plan for a children’s resale store. After two years of preparing, she nearly gave up again—until one night, she felt an undeniable rush of excitement. She turned to her husband and declared, “I’m going to open my store.” Determined, she walked into work the next day and told her best friend and coworker, Samantha DeHaan, “I’m starting my business, and you’re going to be my partner.” Samantha laughed but quickly realized Paige was serious.
Community Support
The two friends wasted no time. They secured a location at 208 Labree Avenue downtown and began seeking donations to build their inventory. The community rallied around them, and the response was overwhelming. “We were so blessed to have so much help,” Paige said. “All of our inventory so far is donated, except for a few things we’ve purchased.”
As the September 30 opening approaches, Paige and Samantha are filled with gratitude and excitement. Sweet Repeats represents not just a new business but a chance to offer local families affordable, quality children’s clothing and a store that fills a genuine need in the community. What began as a distant dream has now become a vibrant, community-supported reality.
With donations still rolling in and the excitement building, Paige and Samantha are looking forward to welcoming shoppers and giving back to the town that has helped bring Sweet Repeats to life.
