Ashton’s Mowing Story

From Determination to a Trusted Business: The Story of Ashton’s Mowing Service and Snow Removal

As part of the upcoming TREK session on April 7 at 8:30 AM, Darwin Klemetson of Ashton’s Mowing Service and Snow Removal will share the story behind a business built from hard work, strong relationships, and community support.

Every successful business has a beginning—but few start as simply as a young boy working toward a goal. For Ashton’s Mowing Service and Snow Removal, that goal was straightforward: earn enough money to buy a snowmobile and a dirt bike. What began as a handful of mowing jobs quickly turned into something much bigger—built on hard work, consistency, and a commitment to doing the job right.

Founded by Darwin and Ashton Klemetson, the business has grown into a full-service, year-round operation serving Thief River Falls and the surrounding communities. While the company started with weekly mowing and trimming, it has steadily expanded its services to meet the needs of local homeowners, businesses, and contractors.

Today, Ashton’s Mowing Service offers a wide range of exterior and underground services, including small concrete work, decorative curbing, site preparation, and light excavation. The company also takes on sewer repairs, water line repairs, storm sewer work, and other small underground projects. Despite that growth, one thing has remained constant: every job is approached with reliability, honest communication, and quality workmanship.

Built on Relationships

A key driver of the company’s success has been its strong relationships within the local construction and service community. Ashton’s Mowing Service works closely with regional partners, including Davidson Construction of Holt, Anderson Construction of Thief River Falls, and Olson Construction of Thief River Falls. These partnerships have allowed the business to expand its capabilities while maintaining a high standard of service.

In the winter months, those relationships extend into snow removal operations. The company collaborates with partners such as E&A Services, Kuznia Construction, Olson Construction, and the City of Thief River Falls to help keep roads, properties, and businesses operating through some of Minnesota’s toughest weather conditions.

A Team That Delivers

Behind every job is a dedicated team of employees who take pride in their work. Their commitment to showing up, working hard, and delivering quality results reflects the same values the business was founded on. This team-first mindset has been essential in building a reputation for consistency and dependability across the region.

Community Support at the Core

The growth of Ashton’s Mowing Service is also a reflection of the Thief River Falls community itself. Local homeowners, businesses, and organizations have played a vital role—offering trust, referrals, and opportunities that have helped the company expand into new services and markets.

That support continues to fuel the company’s momentum. It’s not just about completing jobs—it’s about contributing to the community and being a partner people can rely on.

Continuing to Grow

Known for fair pricing, strong communication, and a hands-on approach, Ashton’s Mowing Service and Snow Removal has become a trusted name in the region. As the business continues to grow, it remains grounded in the same principles that started it all: hard work, community pride, and relationships built on trust.
